The Denton Outlaws got a strong pitching performance from Bryndon Estes in the first game of a doubleheader with the Colleyville Knights and an offensive outburst in the second game for a sweep in NTI 12U action Saturday.
The Outlaws won the first game 7-3 before rolling to a 17-1 rout in Game 2 to improve to 9-1.
Estes scattered four hits over six innings and struck out 11. Joe Frisby led the Outlaws with two hits, while Nick Chapman, Estes, Tristan Flanagan, Chris Loucks had one hit each.
In Game 2, Frisby, Riley Andrews and Estes had two hits and two RBIs each and Chapman added two hits, while Scott Wisker and Carson Arnett had one hit each.
Marlins 14, Yankees 8
The Marlins ran their win streak to four games as they rolled past the Yankees on Saturday.
Benjamin Johnson had a key defensive play, and Reese Alexander pitched one inning of scoreless relief. Hunter Jones went 2 for 3 and scored three times, while Trevor Spears had an RBI double as the Marlins improved to 4-2-1.
Denton Texans 16-14, Southlake 6-2
The Denton Texans’ offense was in top form as they rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Southlake on Saturday.
In Game 1, Jason Metzler had three hits, Carter Marquis had two, and Rece Parker had one hit and walked twice while everyone in the Texans’ lineup reached base and scored. Marquis allowed only two hits and fanned six to pick up the pitching win.
In the second game, Luke Fleitman had two hits, including a triple, and walked twice while the Texans got strong pitching in the victory.
Parker, Braden Sweeten and Metzler combined on a two-hitter and fanned six as the Texans improved their record to 5-2-1.
