Using a perfectly executed squeeze play and doubles by Jaden Hodges, Garrett Sawyer and Brandon Harrison in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red All-Star team broke open a tight game en route to a 11-4 victory over the Blue All-Stars in the 15U All-Star playoff series.
The Blue All-Stars broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the Red All-Stars came back with seven in the bottom of the inning.
Bradley Miles started the scoring with a bases-loaded squeeze play before Hodges, Sawyer and Harrison had run-scoring doubles to cap the rally.
The Red All-Stars added four more in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by doubles from Bradley Miles and Tanner Willis before Harrison hit a two-run triple.
Osvel Gonzales picked up the pitching win for the Red All-Stars in relief. Gonzales came on in the fourth and allowed and walk and a single but didn’t allow another baserunner over three-plus innings.
The Red All-Stars hold a 2-1 edge in the best-of-five series.
Red All-Stars 8, Blue All-Stars 6
The Red All-Stars used a strong combined pitching effort by Braeden Roos, John Maxwell, Drew Coker, Shaun Wolfe and Shawn Limore to take a 8-6 victory over the Blue All-Stars to wrap up the 10-under Cactus All-Star playoff title with a three-game sweep in the best-of-five series.
Roos led the offense for the Red All-Stars with a triple and single, while Avery Walker, Limore, Wolfe and Coker contributed key hits in the victory.
Levi Elder, Jackson Parham and Ernest Scott led the offense for the Blue All-Stars.
