Middle school volleyball: McMath 7th-graders win Bronco Bash title

The McMath Middle School Lady Tigers used some solid play from several players to capture the seventh-grade championship in the third annual Bronco Bash volleyball tournament held at Denton High School on Saturday.

Miles Baker, Kate Cowan, Lucy Martin and Sydnie Acker had strong performances as the Lady Tigers defeated Celina, Liberty Christian, Navo and Calhoun before knocking off McDaniel in the championship game.

The McMath eighth-grade Lady Tigers, behind the play of Lindsay De Vore, Karley Jones and Caitlyn Mitchell, took second place in their division, defeating Strickland, Pilot Point and Coleman in pool play. McMath then defeated Liberty Christian in a tough three-set match before losing to Argyle in the finals 12-25, 24-26.

Navo took the consolation championship in the eighth-grade division, while Calhoun won the challenger bracket. Strickland was the consolation winner in the seventh-grade division, while Argyle won the challenger bracket.
