Sub-varsity football: Hunter shines as Ryan falls 19-14 to Marcus

Despite another impressive performance by Paul Hunter, Ryan’s junior varsity Blue team lost to Flower Mound Marcus 19-14 on Thursday night.

Hunter was 9-for-9 passing for 120 yards and had 220 rushing yards on 23 carries. Hunter scored on a 61-yard run for the Raiders’ first score, and Luis Estrada kicked the extra point.

Hunter threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Waggoner, who caught three passes for 48 yards. Estrada again hit the PAT.

Xavier Pittman had four catches for 59 yards and Dominic Lopez caught two for 13 yards for the Raiders.

Ryan suffered its first loss of the season, as Andrew Flores’ 15-yard touchdown run was the lone score for the Raiders (4-1).

Flores had 104 yards rushing. Shemar Coleman racked up 83 rushing yards.

Ryan’s Nick Watts led the passing attack with 67 yards and added 31 yards on the ground.

Alex Rojas caught six passes for 43 yards, and Rodney Gladney caught one pass for 24 yards for the Raiders.

The Ryan defense made three fourth-down stops.
