The Guyer junior varsity team erupted for 41 points in the second and third quarters Tuesday night to break open a tight game and roll to a 69-49 triumph over the Azle Hornets.
The Wildcats (9-7, 1-0 District 5-4A) were led by Darrius Russell’s 15 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Eric Ramon pumped in 13 points while Bryson Erby finished with 11 points.

The Guyer Wildcats rallied from a three-point first-quarter deficit to a 12-point lead at halftime en route to a lopsided victory over Azle.
The Wildcats trailed 11-8 after the first quarter but outscored the Hornets 18-3 in the second period to break open the game.
J.J. Jones led the way with 14 points while Preston Rush added 12 and Caleb Jordan finished with 10 for the Wildcats, now 10-5 on the season and 1-0 in district play.
