Denton Boys Baseball: Rangers start season with win

The Rangers, behind the pitching of Chase Fleming and the offense of Russel Tarver, opened the season with a hard-fought 10-7 victory over the Orioles in Denton Boys Baseball 10-and-under Cactus League action.

Fleming picked up the pitching win, striking out three, while Tarver had an RBI double to lead the Rangers’ offense.

Dodgers 11, Astros 8

The Astros rallied from a huge deficit in the final inning to pull within three runs before losing to the Dodgers.

Trailing 11-3 entering the final inning, Trae Sewell, Landon Hellman, Phoenix Johnson and John Crawford led the Astros’ rally to cut into the Dodgers’ lead.


Blue Jays 12, Marlin 1

The Blue Jays, behind the power hitting of Jalen Wada, De’Ante Ray, Richard Reyes and Jacob Grosser, rolled to a lopsided win over the Marlins and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Wada had an inside-the-park home run, while Ray, Reyes and Grosser all had triples to lead the Blue Jays’ offensive attack. Hunter Smith led all hitters with three hits, while David Fuse, Bruce Trahan, Evan Cochran, Pierson Rougeau and Scott Kinkle each had hits.
