Sub-varsity football roundup: Coleman scores 84-yard TD in Raiders’ victory

Ryan JV Blue opened up a close game against Wichita Falls Rider with a 17-point third quarter in a 30-14 win Wednesday.

Shemar Coleman had rushing touchdowns of 15 and 84 yards for Ryan. Bryce Mason scored from 35 yards out and Andrew Flores had a 4-yarder. Luis Estrada converted three extra points and kicked a 27-yard field goal.

The Raiders will host Wylie East at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ryan JV Red 30, Wichita Falls Rider 14

Ryan’s Kyle Smith accounted for four touchdowns in Ryan’s 30-14 win over Wichita Falls Rider.

Smith tossed a 25-yard TD to Coleman Grubbs and ran for scores of 1, 3 and 5 yards. Joe Joe McCage converted all four PAT attempts, and the Raiders’ defense contributed a safety.

Ryan (2-0) is set to host Wylie East at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Ryan freshman Blue 20, Wichita Falls Rider 14

WICHITA FALLS — Tyreke Davis scored touchdowns on offense and defense as Ryan topped Wichita Falls Rider 20-14.

Davis returned an interception 60 yards for a score and had a 50-yard run. The defense produced a safety. Rounding out the scoring was Randy Gray with a 30-yard catch from Josh Branch.

The Raiders (2-0) will play at Wylie East at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ryan freshman Red 22, Wichita Falls Rider 14

WICHITA FALLS — Ryan escaped Wichita Falls with a 22-14 win over Rider.

The Raiders’ Tanner Carter had a 60-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Love, Chris Lee scored on a 30-yard run, and Will Koberick threw a TD pass.

Ryan (2-0) plays at Wylie East at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Denton JV Purple 46, Carrollton R.L. Turner 0

CARROLLTON — Denton rolled past Carrollton R.L. Turner 46-0 on Thursday.

Denton Purple (1-1) will host Fort Worth Western Hills at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Euless Trinity JV 14, Denton Gold 0

EULESS — Denton Gold forced four turnovers but fell to Euless Trinity 14-0.

Denton (0-2) hosts Fort Worth Western Hills at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Denton freshman Purple 49, Carrollton R.L. Turner 14

Caleb Osuofa had three rushing touchdowns to lead Denton Purple to a 49-14 win over Carrollton R.L. Turner on Thursday.

Chris Houston and Lynn Brice had touchdown receptions from Colt Atkinson, Chris Herrera returned a kickoff 70 yards for a score, and Kenneth Bowen added another touchdown for Denton. Robert Reyes made five of seven PAT kicks.

Houston also recorded a safety on defense. Jason Justiz recovered a fumble, and Chase Audirsch and William Clayton each had an interception.

The Broncos (2-0) will play at Fort Worth Western Hills at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Denton freshman Gold 28, Carrollton R.L. Turner 6

Caleb Word had two fumble recoveries on defense and a touchdown run to lead Denton’s freshman Gold (1-1) past Carrollton R.L. Turner, 28-6.

Denton plays at Fort Worth Western Hills at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
