Sub-varsity football: Ryan JV stops two-point run to beat Hebron

After a Hebron touchdown run in the fourth quarter, Ryan’s JV Blue stopped a two-point conversion run attempt and held on for a 14-13 win on Thursday.

Austin Shanks opened the game’s scoring in the second quarter for the Raiders, returning an interception for a score. In the third quarter, Shemar Coleman, who finished with 79 rushing yards on 15 carries, scored on an 8-yard run. Luis Estrada converted both extra points.

Ryan plays at Lewisville at 7 p.m. Thursday

Hebron freshmen 34, Ryan Blue 16

LEWISVILLE — Josh Branch passed for one touchdown and two two-point conversions, but Ryan’s freshman Blue (4-2) fell to Hebron.

Tyreke Davis scored on a 5-yard run for Ryan before Branch hit Randy Gray for the two-pointer. Branch later connected with Gray again, this time for a 10-yard touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion pass to Jason Gulley.

The Raiders will play host to Lewisville at 7 p.m. Thursday.
