Middle school basketball roundup: Crownover holds off Harpool

The seventh-grade Crownover Lady Cowboys had to withstand a huge fourth-quarter rally by Harpool to hold on for a 11-10 victory in A-team action Thursday night.

The Lady Longhorns, trailing 8-3 heading into the final quarter, rallied to tie the game late before Crownover got a pair of free throws from Jaden Reid to secure the victory.

Reid finished with six points while Taylor Hunter and Lauren Shepard had two apiece.

Caylie Austin led Harpool with three points while Rylee Reed, Amanda Maletich and Sierra Winder each had two.

 

Crownover eighth-grade A 35, Little Elm 31 (OT)

The Crownover Cowboys outscored Little Elm 8-4 in overtime.

Taylor Wallace led the Cowboys (2-4) with 14 points while Sydney Sandford finished with eight and Reagan Hubbard four.

 

Harpool eighth-grade A 37, Myers 17

The Harpool Lady Longhorns broke open a close game in the third quarter by outscoring Myers 18-4 en route to a 20-point win.

Alexiss Benton led Harpool with 20 points while Breyer Winder added nine. Kalia Beckwith was the standout on defense with six steals while Benton had four. Winder and Katie Kudma led the team in rebounding with seven and four boards, respectively.

 

Navo eighth-grade A 47, Strickland 15

The Navo Lady Panthers stormed out to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and coasted to an easy victory over the Strickland Lady Vikings, improving to 8-1.

Lezyria Wilson and Jamie Means shared scoring honors for Navo with 12 points and Jaden Hoelker added 10.

 

Boys

Navo seventh-grade A 49, McMath 25

The Navo Panthers jumped out to a 12-point first-quarter lead and never looked back in knocking off McMath.

Christian Williams led the Panthers (8-2) with 12 points, Adam McNeil finished with nine, Deondre Dansby had seven, Mark Leslie six and Kerrell Woods five.
