Middle school volleyball: Harpool slides into first place

Harpool moved into a first-place tie with just one match to go in the season with a 21-25, 25-15, 25-23 win against McMath in an eighth-grade A game on Thursday night.

Lead servers for the Lady Longhorns (6-1) were Emily Hill with 19 points, Tierra Noble with 15 points, Britian Seago with 11 points and Mallory McKnight with 10 points.

McMath, too, is 6-1 overall.

Harpool eighth-grade B d. McMath

Harpool defeated McMath 25-17, 25-22 behind the play of Ashleigh Lyons and Carrie Roberts.

Lyons scored 10 points off serves while Roberts had nine points. Meanwhile, Tara Solomon had six points.

Harpool improved to 5-1. McMath is 2-4.

Strickland seventh-grade B d. Little Elm

Strickland edged Little Elm 25-21, 25-22 behind the scoring of Ashley Poeshyl.

Harpool eighth-grade C d. McMath

Led by Celeste Del Castillo, Harpool defeated McMath 25-10, 25-23.

Del Castillo scored 17 points off serves while teammate Abby Stanford had 13 points.

Harpool improved to 4-2. McMath is 2-4.

Calhoun eighth-grade A d. Navo

Ariyana O'Bryan and Jordyn Rutledge each had 11 serves in leading Calhoun to a 25-23, 25-19 win against Navo.

Also, Kiana Brown had nine hits for the Lady Cougars (1-1).

Strickland seventh-grade A d. Little Elm

Strickland turned back Little Elm 25-14, 25-18 as it got productive work from Monica Juarez, Hannah Talkington and Brittany Eccles.

Doing the work at the net were Ally Mulkey and Courtney Miller.

Strickland seventh-grade C d. Little Elm

Strickland registered a 25-11, 25-23 win against Little Elm as Julie Guerrero and Jasmine Owens led the offense.

Harpool seventh-grade A d. McMath

Harpool remained unbeaten with a 25-13, 25-15 win against McMath.

For the Lady Longhorns (6-0), MacKenzie Bland had four digs, Brynn Warnack had five kills and Lauren Heard had 12 serving points.

Navo seventh-grade A d. Calhoun

Navo held off Calhoun 10-25, 25-14, 25-21 as Jade Parrish scored the first 13 points of the second game with productive serves.

Meanwhile, Hannah Sargent, Sydney Finch and Annie Wood contributed with consistent serves in both the second and third games. Finch, too, played solid defense and was successful on passes to the setter.

McMath seventh-grade B d. Harpool

McMath bounced back to defeat Harpool 15-25, 26-24, 25-19.

For Harpool, Sydney Swan had four kills and one block while Samantha Snyder had one block and Brooke Roberts had nine service points.

Harpool seventh-grade C d. McMath

Harpool got 11 service points from Madison Johnson to produce a 25-21, 25-14 win against McMath.

The Lady Longhorns improved to 5-1.
