Denton Boys Baseball: Marlins edge Red Sox in 12U Cactus action

Reese Alexander’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning and strong pitching by Alli Frendo enabled the Marlins to take a 14-13 win over the Red Sox Saturday in 12U Cactus league action.

Frendo pitched four innings, picking off two base runners, while Tucker Jarrett made two great catches in the outfield for the Marlins, now 2-2-1 for the season. Alex Holes had two doubles and Noah Perez had a two-run triple to lead the Marlins’ offensive attack.


White Sox 13, Yankees 6

Levi Gray had a home run and a double as the White Sox rolled to a 13-6 victory over the Yankees in 12U Cactus action.

Javon McDougal and Joseph Fritz added triples to the White Sox offensive outburst. Timothy Brown picked up the pitching win for the Sox in his first start with relief help from McDougal. They combined for eight strikeouts. The White Sox are now 4-0-1.


10U Cactus

Dodgers 7, Cardinals 5

The Dodgers got strong pitching from Sam Strange and Jarod Dutton as they improved to 6-0 for the season with a 7-5 victory over the Cardinals in 10U Cactus league play.

Strange picked up the victory, pitching two innings and striking out four while Dutton got the save with two strike outs in his brief relief appearance. Devin Foutch had one hit, walked twice and scored two runs while Nomar Carreon had a two-run single and scored one run to lead the Dodgers’ offense.


White Sox 15, D-Backs 9

Nathan Hokanson, Michael Vidales and Isaac Boodt each collected two hitsas the White Sox rolled to a 15-9 victory over the D-Backs in 10U Cactus action.

Trent Kidd also added a hit to the White Sox total while Hokanson came on in relief to fan all three batters he faced and Boodt pitched two innings, striking out five as the White Sox improved to 2-3 for the season.


8U Grapefruit

Rangers 12, Astros 2

Cade Niewinski drove in three runs with a pair of doubles as the Rangers scored a 12-2 victory over the Astros in 8U Grapefruit league action.

Niewinski and Gage Weis combined to turn a double play early in the game to lead the Rangers, as they improved to 3-1 for the season.



Astros vs. Giants

Elijah Williams and a two-run hit and Zaine Smith also had a crucial hit for the Giants in their game with the Astros.

Landon Hardin had a key defensive play for the Giants.
