Denton Boys Baseball: Rangers win battle of top 10U teams

Key defensive plays by catcher John Maxwell, Shawn Limore and Nick Sehon enabled the Rangers to hold off the Dodgers for a 10-8 victory Saturday in a battle of the two top teams in 10-under Cactus League action.

Maxwell was able to hold runners at third base in the bottom of the fifth to preserve the win, while Limore knocked down a line drive to open the inning and record a out for the Rangers (8-0-1).

Maxwell led the hitting for the Rangers with a double, while Caden Hedges and Limore each added singles.

Devin Foutch led the Dodgers’ offense with two hits, one RBI and scored once, while Levi Elder had a RBI single and scored once. Blake Craft walked three times and scored twice. Nomar Carreon turned in a strong pitching performance for the Dodgers (7-1), striking out eight in three-plus innings of work.


10U Grapefruit

Red Sox 8, White Sox 3

The White Sox saw their perfect start come to and end Friday night as the Red Sox handed them an 8-3 loss.

Bradly Rocha had two hits and scored a pair of runs, Drew Hammett drove in one run and Hayden Reedy scored once as the White Sox fell to 6-1.



Denton Stars 8, Highland Village Storm 8

Matthew Buehler, Austan Williams, Tanner Jarrett and Jakob Williams each collected two hits while Tyler Huneycutt and Garrett Tucker had one apiece as the Denton Stars battled to a tie.


Denton Stars 10, Highland Village Storm 8

Nico Amaya and Ben Holbert each had two hits and Jarrett tripled as the Stars picked up their fifth win.

Huneycutt picked up the win, and Holbert came on to strike out two and get the save for the Stars (5-1-1).


8U Grapefruit

Red Sox 17, Yankees 16

Hayden Mullins hit a grand slam as the Yankees battled back from a 12-2 deficit before losing 17-16 to the Red Sox this week in 8U Grapefruit action.

Joseph Dominguez and Noah Garcia turned in several key defensive plays for the Yankees as they slipped to 1-4 for the season and the Red Sox improved to 2-3.



Phillies vs. Giants

Elijah Williams had a running-scoring single, while Brady Cardwell and Cole Bruister had key defensive plays for the Giants.
