Middle school volleyball: Harpool sweeps Strickland

Lauren Heard and Shelby Heitkamp combined for 21 points in leading the Harpool eighth-graders to a 25-16, 25-16 win over Strickland in an A game Thursday night.

Heard led the way for the Lady Longhorns with 11 points, while Heitkamp had 10 points and Olivia O’Connell had nine points.

Brynn Wamack had seven assists while Heard and Elizabeth Donnelly were credited with one block apiece. Also aiding in the victory was the passing of libero Makenzie Bland.

 

McMath eighth-grade A d. Navo

McMath swept Navo 25-8, 25-17 in its season opener.

The Lady Tigers got productive serving from Landie Urban, Brittan Warwo and Olivia Burns. Key defense came from Taylor Soto, Karley Jones and Caitlin Wilkins. Lindsey Devore also was a contributing factor.

McMath seventh-grade A d. Navo

Kate Cowan served nine straight points in the first set and 13 straight points in the second set to lead McMath to a 25-7, 25-5 win over Navo.

Miles Baker led the Lady Tigers’ offense with several kills and assists and served seven straight points. Alyssa Williamson served 10 straight points in the second set.

McMath won the B-team match 25-19, 25-18, and won the C-team showdown 25-10, 25-12.
