Youth sports roundup: Smith leads unbeaten DC Raiders

Jaysaun Smith had more than 100 yards both rushing and receiving as the DC Raiders rolled to a 38-0 rout of the South Grand Prairie Rams in 9-10 league action of the DFW Ultimate Select Football Association.

Smith scored twice on touchdown passes from quarterback Trevor Morgan, who finished the game completing 5 of 7 passes. Emani Bailey had 150 yards rushing and scored once, while Dayton Arkansas added a rushing touchdown and 75 yards rushing. Ty Johnson and Quincy Gulley led the defense as the Raiders improved to 5-0 for the season.


5-6 Flag League

S. Grand Prairie Rams 25, DC Raiders 18

The DC Raiders got strong performances from Pierson Rogeaux, Dillon Arkansas and Tyran Chappell, but is wasn’t enough as they fell to the South Grand Prairie Rams.

Chappell had more than 160 yards rushing on the day, including a 45-yard TD run. Arkansas had 90 yards rushing, scored on an 80-yard run and hit Rogeaux with an 80-yard scoring pass.

The Raiders are 2-3 for the season.


7-8 League

DC Raiders 28, South Grand Prairie 6

Austin Jordan had 122 yards rushing and scored three times to lead the DC Raiders to the victory.

Jordan scored on runs of 21, 10 and 35 yards, while Garyeon Robinson had 72 yards on the ground and returned a fumble 40 yards for a score. Jordyn Bailey had 86 yards rushing, and Darryl Salley led the team in tackles as the Raiders remained unbeaten at 5-0.


11-12 League

DC Raiders 22, South Grand Prairie 8

Quarterback Trent Ponsonby had two touchdown passes to lead the unbeaten DC Raiders past South Grand Prairie.

Ponsonby was 8-of-13 passing, including a 62-yard TD pass to Jason Guilley and a 17-yard scoring strike to Trevon Turner, who had five receptions on the day. Delano Robinson and Brendon Bishop led the Raiders’ defense. The Raiders are now 5-0 for the season.


Denton All-Star Youth Football Association

Mean Green 41, Broncos 0

Kalib Hicks rushed for 223 yards and scored twice to lead the Mean Green to a rout of the Broncos.

Zachary Sutton also had two touchdowns, while Jason Carter racked up 101 yards rushing and scored once, as did Kaden Pollard.

Cameron Anderson had a pass deflection, Dalton Latzer recovered a fumble, and Bret Lowder had three tackles for losses as the Mean Green improved to 5-0.

GameOn Athletics 6, Raptors 0

Marlee Moynagh scored twice and had one assist, while Nadia Brown scored once and assisted on a goal by Belicia Barnes to lead GameOn Athletics to the win.

Emma Onstead and Annie Kay Palasota also added goals for GameOn Athletics.


GameOn Athletics 6, Woods Dragonettes 0

Belicia Barnes and Nadia Brown each scored twice as the GameOn Athletics defeated the Woods Dragonettes.

Joining in the scoring were Kathryn Krueger, who scored on a penalty kick, and Marlee Moynagh.



Tigers 3, Lady Tigers 0

Jaclyn Boles scored twice, including one from near midfield, as the Tigers defeated the Lady Tigers.

Reagan Roberts scored a goal and joined Hannah Campos, Brooklyn Northeim, Shelby Foringer, Sydney Bosley, Gabi Childress and Jaidyn Randall in a complete team effort to register the shutout.



Tigers 7, Lil Rebels 6

Rhyan Roberts scored three goals and AJ McCray and Kennedy Coward also scored as the Tigers improved their record to 4-0-1 for the season.
