Middle school football: Franklin leads Harpool eighth-grade squad past Navo

Logien Franklin had 151 yards on five carries and scored two touchdowns in leading Harpool’s eighth-grade “A” team to a 36-12 win over Navo on Tuesday night.

Franklin scored on runs of 48 and 75 yards.

Christian Moore added 94 yards on six carries, including a 60-yard TD run for the Longhorns (4-1). Quarterback Josh Viera and backup Bryce Jackson scored on 1- and 4-yard touchdown runs, respectively. Kicker Bryson Casmir hit three extra points.

Navo won the B-team game 6-0.


Strickland eighth-grade A 25, Crownover 7

Strickland kept Crownover winless with a convincing victory.

For Strickland (1-4), Randolph Gray had touchdown runs of 51, 57 and 50 yards, and Creed Gentry threw a 29-yard TD pass to Lynn Brice.

On defense for the Vikings, Ricky Fuentes forced and recovered a fumble and Brice and Gentry each made interceptions.

The highlight for the Cowboys (0-5) was a 2-yard touchdown run by Baily Blackney, who had 88 yards rushing.


Strickland eighth-grade B 19, Crownover 0

The Strickland Vikings, led by Tyreese Garcia, rolled to a shutout victory over Crownover at Ryan High School.

Garcia ran back a kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown and had two rushing touchdowns. The Vikings’ defense was led by defensive end Boone Hess, free safety Porter Sciba and linebackers Jimmy Love and Garcia.

The Vikings are 1-3-1.


Lake Dallas seventh-grade A 28, McMath 28

Visiting Lake Dallas and McMath had to settle for a hard-fought tie.

For McMath (0-4-1), Jeovanni Dodson had 70- and 51-yard touchdown runs. Dodson threw a 64-yard TD pass to Juan Rabago and a 45-yard TD pass to A.J. Johnson.

Dodson finished with 170 rushing yards against the Falcons (2-2-1). Other highlights for the Tigers were an onside kick recovered by Roberto Torres and an extra-point attempt blocked by Ryan Rachui.

Lake Dallas won the B-team game 30-7. For the Tigers, Christian Garcia had a rushing touchdown, and Brian Allo threw to Christian Prescott for a 1-point conversion.


Calhoun seventh-grade A 12, McMath 0

Adrian Wilson scored all of Calhoun’s points in a 12-0 win over McMath.

Wilson scored on runs of 7 and 15 yards for the Cougars, who improved to 5-0. On defense, Adrian Byoune had six solo tackles and Toreayn Hughes had four.


Lake Dallas eighth-grade A 20, McMath 0

Lake Dallas had little trouble in posting a win over the McMath Tigers.

C.J. Herrera led the Tigers in rushing with 75 yards, and Chris Houston was the leading receiver. Eddison Ibanez and Kareem Bonilla also had productive games.

Lake Dallas won the B-team game 22-6. For McMath, Josh Crain had 101 yards rushing and scored on a 4-yard run. Conner Cocchiarella had a 50-yard run and C.J. Govan picked off a pass.


Little Elm seventh-grade B 14, Calhoun 6

Little Elm edged Calhoun in a competitive game.

For the Cougars (1-3-1), Isaiah Johnson had a 54-yard touchdown run, while Austin Seigfried had four tackles and one sack.


Strickland seventh-grade A 36, Crownover 13

Strickland dominated Crownover in a lopsided affair.

Vikings quarterback/safety Spencer Sanders scored three rushing touchdowns, threw two touchdown passes to Tyrus Johnson and ran back an interception for a touchdown. The Vikings’ defense was led by linebackers Brandon Bishop and Kosi Eldridge, cornerback Tyrese Moore and defensive end Jack Barilleaux.

The Vikings (3-1-1) next face Navo on Monday at Ryan High School.


Strickland seventh-grade B 27, Crownover 13

Alejandro Mora scored four touchdowns to lead Strickland.

Other highlights for the Vikings (2-2-1) were a 50-yard run and an interception by Jalin McGee and Deandre Allen’s sack and pass deflection.

For Crownover (2-3), Trevon Turner had a 5-yard touchdown run, and Dylan Bourey had a 47-yard fumble return for a TD. Connor Riddle caught a 30-yard pass from Colton Phillips.
