Youth sports: Robinson, Jordan lead team to title

Garyeon Robinson scored three touchdowns and Austin Jordan scored twice as the 7-8 League’s DC Raiders rolled to a 32-12 victory over the South Grand Prairie Rams in the DFW Ultimate Select Football Association Super Bowl on Saturday.

Robinson scored on runs of 28, 52 and 64 yards, while Jordan scored on runs of 14 and 34 yards in leading the Raiders to a 9-0 record and a berth in the National Select Youth Football Championships in two weeks.


DC Raiders 12, South Grand Prairie 7

The DC Raiders improved their record to 9-1 and claimed the 9-10 League championship.

Jaysaun Smith scored on a 58-yard run and Emani Bailey scored from 44 yards out. Ty Johnson led the DC Raiders in tackles and Seth Cook recorded five sacks.

The win put the Raiders in the National Select Youth Football Championships in two weeks.


DC Raiders 20, South Grand Prairie 14

The undefeated DC Raiders secured a spot in the National Select Youth Football Championships with their ninth win of the season in the 11-12 League.

Trevon Turner caught a 27-yard scoring pass from Trent Ponsonby, Andy Scott scored on a 4-yard run and Jason Gulley had a 48-yard touchdown run. Gulley finished with 121 yards on the ground.

J.J. Johnson, Delano Robinson, Turner and Gulley were leaders of the defensive effort along with Austin McCallion, who led the team in sacks.

Mean Green 20, 380 Panthers 0

The Mean Green defense produced in a goal-line stand early in the game in wrapping up the 7-8 Division championship.

Kailb Hicks had 103 yards rushing on four carries and scored twice, and Jason Carter had 12 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown.

Jordan Laxamana had six tackles, one sack and a forced fumble, Gabriel Taito had six tackles and Dalton Latzer had two tackles for losses.
