Middle school basketball roundup: Harmon scores 28 as Crownover rolls

Paced by the outstanding offensive display of Devion Harmon, the seventh-grade Crown-over Cowboys outscored the McMath Tigers 30-12 in the first half en route to a 47-26 A-team victory Thursday night.

Harmon scored 28 points as the Cowboys improved to 3-0, as Cole Schroeder added nine points and Joseph Nathan finished with six.


Navo seventh-grade A 71, Myers 18

The Navo Panthers didn’t let the layoff of the Christmas break slow them down as they outscored the Myers Titans 42-7 in the first half on the way to victory.

Adam McNiel led the scoring for the Panthers (3-0) with 14 points while Kiran Anderson and Plamer Campbell finished with 10 apiece.


Navo seventh-grade B 28, Myers 16

Jaharro Grose scored eight points and Terry Pierce III added six to lead the Navo Panthers to a 12-point win over Myers.

The victory improved the Panthers to 2-1 for the season.


Navo seventh-grade C 36, Myers 8

The Navo Panthers remained undefeated at 3-0 with a lopsided victory over Myers.

John McDaniel led the scoring for the Panthers with 10 points while Ta’vion Wafford finished with eight.


McMath seventh-grade B 17, Crownover 12

The McMath Tigers outscored Crownover 5-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a five-point victory.

Dawson Love and Daniel Stewart led the scoring for Crownover with three points apiece.


Crownover seventh-grade C 24, McMath 11

Josh Crabtree, Payton Lindsey, Ross Boisen and Mario Alea-Ngongo each scored four points as Crownover (3-0) defeated McMath.


Harpool seventh-grade C 23, Calhoun 7

Calhoun’s Thomas Jarrett scored five points and pulled down three rebounds and Jeremy Keen added two points and grabbed four rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Cougars lost to Harpool.


Harpool eighth-grade A 50, Calhoun 18

The Harpool Longhorns jumped out to a 19-point first-quarter lead and coasted to victory over Calhoun.

Le’Tre Darthard led the Longhorns (3-0) with 14 points and four rebounds, Renaldo Ortega had 10 points and five rebounds and Morgan Allen finished with six points, three assists and four steals.

Jason Metzler scored 14 points to lead the Harpool “B” team to a 36-18 win over Calhoun. Haden Hodapp and Zach Ross each had six points in the Longhorns’ 31-6 win over Calhoun in the C-team game.



Harpool eighth-grade A 40, Calhoun 7

Breyer Winder scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Katherine Silvaggio scored 10 points as the Harpool Lady Longhorns routed Calhoun.

Katelin Kudma and Alexiss Benton had eight points apiece while MarLynn Hickson and Jordan Russell turned in strong efforts for Harpool.


Harpool eighth-grade B 23, Calhoun 8

Faith Holden and Molly Krinner led the Harpool defensive effort as it held Calhoun scoreless in the first quarter on the way to a 15-point victory.

Mallory Pittman and Morgan Peters led the Harpool scoring with six points apiece while Eli Agawu pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Pittman had five rebounds.


Navo eighth-grade A 28, Strickland 21

The Navo Lady Panthers rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to pull away for a seven-point victory over Strickland.

Julia McKeathen led the scoring for Navo with 16 points while Alexus Evans added four points and Sydney Finch finished with three points and led the team in assists and steals.

Carly Lesue and Alyssa Allen led Navo in rebounds.


Harpool seventh-grade A 20, Calhoun 4

The Harpool Lady Longhorns, behind a strong defensive effort, held Calhoun scoreless in the first half.

Callie Boyles led the scoring for Harpool with 10 points while Mia Knight led the defensive charge with 11 steals. Cailey Austin handed out four assists and Sierra Winder pulled down five rebounds.


Harpool seventh-grade B 22, Calhoun 10

The Harpool Lady Longhorns broke open a tight game in the second quarter and pulled away late for a 12-point win.

Amanda Nicholson and Lindsey Croke shared scoring honors for Harpool with six points apiece while Morgan Berres finished with four. Madison Miller had three steals, Cameron Steakley pulled down four rebounds and Rachel Brandt led the defensive effort.


Harpool seventh-grade C 12, Calhoun 10

Harpool and Calhoun matched each other point for point through three quarters before the Lady Longhorns pulled out a two-point win.

Alyssa Lumsden and Parker Grisham led the offense for Harpool with four points apiece, while Lauren Avila had 12 steals and Natasha Cutting grabbed five rebounds.


Crownover seventh-grade C 8, McMath 7

Rayann Givens, Arely Naffarratte, Hailey Ryherd and Kate Rogers each scored two points as the Crownover Lady Cowboys held off McMath.


Navo seventh-grade A 45, Myers 30

The Navo Lady Panthers turned back a fierce Myers rally and outscored the Lady Titans 17-6 in the final quarter to remain unbeaten at 3-0.

Britain Hartzell led the scoring for the Lady Panthers with 26 points while Eleighseea Rasmussen had 10 and Izabella Klipsch finished with six.


Navo seventh-grade B 26, Myers 7

Grace Alexander scored eight points and Fatima Castellanos and Zy’ma Andrews each had four as Navo improved to 3-0.

Alexander also pulled down 19 rebounds, handed out five assists and had two steals, while Kyra Friedman had 12 steals and four assists.
