Middle school basketball roundup: Cowboys 5-0 after Harmon’s big night

The seventh-grade Crownover Cowboys ran their record to 5-0, and Devion Harmon improved his scoring average to better than 30 points per game with a 67-39 A-team victory over Lake Dallas on Thursday night.

Harmon, coming off a 41-point effort last week, scored 34 points, pulled down nine rebounds and had seven steals. Sam Meeks finished with 12 points and four steals, while Calvin Phillips scored 10 points. Cole Schroeder had eight rebounds and four steals.


Crownover eighth-grade A 34, Lake Dallas 24

The Crownover Cowboys used a balanced scoring attack to take a 10-point.

Arian Bhat led the attack with nine points, Trent Hunter and Kyle Ingram each had seven and Dyland Bourey six as Crownover evened its record at 4-4.


Lake Dallas seventh-grade B 27, Crownover 19

Lake Dallas outscored Crownover 15-0 in the third quarter to rally from behind and held off the Cowboys in the fourth quarter.

Connor Briggs led Crownover (1-4) with 10 points, while DeJuan Harris had four.


Gainesville eighth-grade A 41, Navo 36

Gainesville used a 12-2 run in the second quarter to break open a close game.

Shaun Roland led the scoring for the Navo Panthers (3-3) with 19 points and Adrian Wilson finished with 10.


Navo eighth-grade B 32, Gainesville 14

The Navo Panthers outscored Gainesville 23-9 in a big first half to roll to an 18-point triumph.

Mecca Hicks and Alec Lawrence led the scoring for Navo with six points apiece.


Gainesville seventh-grade A 47, Navo 42

A sluggish second quarter proved to be the downfall for Navo in a five-point loss to Gainesville. The Panthers (6-2) were outscored 14-9 in the second.

Adam McNeil led the scoring for Navo with 11 points. Christian Williams and Kerrell Woods had eight apiece and Mark Leslie and Deondre Dansby each added five.


Navo seventh-grade B 34, Gainesville 19

The Navo Panthers outscored Gainesville 21-4 in the second half en route to a 15-point victory.

Alejandro Rivera led the Panthers (3-2) with 13 points. Aaron Jackson had 10 and Mitchell Lesue six.



Myers seventh-grade A 35, Harpool 20

The Myers Lady Titans outscored Harpool 21-5 over the second and third quarters to break open a tight game and hand Harpool its first loss.

Callie Boyles led the Lady Longhorns with 12 points and had six blocks and five rebounds. Cailey Austin added three points while Amanda Maletich had five rebounds.


Harpool seventh-grade B 28, Myers 20

Harpool (2-2) pulled away from a 12-all halftime deadlock to defeat Myers.

Morgan Berres and Amanda Nicholson shared scoring honors for Harpool with six points apiece and Rachel Brandt added four.

Cameron Steakley had four rebounds and Kamryn Jefferson had three steals to join Delaney Apt with strong defensive efforts for Harpool.
