The Crownover Cowboys, behind the three touchdown performance of Luke Piper, remained unbeaten on the year as they rolled to a 30-0 victory against the McMath Tigers in eighth grade football action Tuesday.
Piper scored on a 40-yard run and caught touchdown passes of 45 and 24-yards from Harrison Bohannon. Seth Meador, who also had an interception, scored on a 28-yard run and Madi Langford added two extra point kicks as the Cowboys moved to 7-0 for the season.
Erik Arrellano, with a interception, Nick Cedillo, with a fumble recovery, and Johnathan Jones led the defensive effort for Crownover while Jess Holbert and Erik Nunez were standouts on defense.
Leading the way for McMath (3-4) was Ja'mal McCoy-Maxwell, Landry Kinne, Marcellus Lockley, Adam Fogle Julian Gallardo and Corinthian Bradley.
Myers ‘A’ 40, Navo 22
The Myers Titans (6-1) rebounded from its lone loss of the season last week with a 18-point win against the Navo Panthers.
Quarterback Martin Rodriguez ignited the Titan offense with three TD passes finished the game hitting 8-of-12 passes for 216 yards. Jay Wilson caught scoring passes of 54 and 25 yards and Ahmad Terry had a 40-yard TD reception. Terry also had a 65-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Emani Bailey, who finished the evening with 108 yards rushing on seven carries, scored on a 3-yard run while Riley Nuzzo was good on five extra-point kicks.
The entire offensive line of, Cortt Gentry, Jakob Tutt, Jacob Keck, William Walsh, J.C. Coleman, and Tomas Hernandez were praised for their play.
Crownover ‘B’ 14, McMath 0
Tony Thomas scored two touchdowns and J.C. Smith added one extra point kick in the Cowboys’ (6-1) victory against McMath.
David Perez and Ben Walford were singled out for their downfield blocking that led to one of Thomas’ touchdowns. Chris Chapman, Grant O’Bara, Mason Massingill, and Jacob Penny also turned in strong performances.
The Tigers (3-4) got strong play from Ricardo Perez, Richard Arizpe, Terver Dick and Luis Ruiz.
Myers ‘B’ 15, Navo 0
Damarvin Thomas scored on a 25-yard run and Ashton McGary caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Kevon Bronner as Myers Titans recorded the shutout victory against Navo.
Alessandro Manzi caught a conversion pass and Jacob Acosta, Isaiah Hays, Dorian Anderson and Kobe Stewart were singled out for their play for Myers (6-1).
Myers ‘A’ 36, Navo 0
Ke’ori Hicks scored three touchdowns to lead the Myers Titans to their 36-point win against the Navo Panthers.
Hicks had touchdown runs of 83, 80 and 60 yards while quarterback Seth Henigan hit JaTavion Sanders with a 15-yard scoring pass and Eric Boone closed the Myers’ scoring with a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Kicker Milton Cerda was good on three extra-point kicks.
Darryl McDuel and Keagan Cunningham also had interceptions for the Titans (6-1).
Navo ‘B’ 14, Myers 7
Tamrian Turner had a 60-yard touchdown run and Thomas Frazee added the extra-point as the Myers Titans lost to the Navo Panthers.
Turner finished with 90 yards rushing and also had 40 yards receiving and Andrew Redmond rushed for 70 yards for the Titans (3-4).
Crownover ‘A’ 36, McMath 0
The Crownover Cowboys recorded their sixth shutout of the season and improved their record to 7-0 with the convincing win against the McMath Tigers.
Quarterback Eli Stowers had two touchdown runs and connected with Jakobi Bruce on a TD pass. Ryan Fritcher also scored on a TD run and Lucas Richards had a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Michael Mayfield added four extra point kicks.
Bruce and Ty Alridge led the defense with interceptions.
Leading the effort for the Tigers (1-6) was Caden Greanead on offense and Cameron Stephenson (with a interception), Blake Craft, Beau Marshall, Devin Barnett, Terrance Thomas, and D’Marcus Howard on defense.
Crownover ‘B’ 34, McMath 0
Quarterback Jack Newman and Walker Hickey combined for three touchdown passes as the Cowboys raced past the McMath Tigers.
Adam Engelke caught a TD pass from Cooper Broadhurst, Jesse Williams rushed for a touchdown and Luis Rangel hit two extra-point kicks to complete the Crownover (5-2) scoring. Julian Freshour and Ethan Serna were standouts on defense for the Cowboys.
McMath (1-6) was led by the play of Jonah Lawrence, Zach Austin, Ethan Chen, Aziel Esquivel, and Chase Acker.
Strickland ‘A’ 25, Little Elm 6
Jay Sheppard scored a pair of touchdowns and the Strickland Vikings improved to 4-3 on the season with their victory against Little Elm.
Sheppard scored on a 51-yard run and later returned a fumble 36-yards for a score. Koree Mitchell had a 31-yard touchdown run and Brandon Ortiz scored on a 5-yard run and caught a conversion pass on close out the Strickland scoring.
