Middle school volleyball roundup: Calhoun wins three-set battle with Rodriguez

The Calhoun Lady Cougars battled through three hard-fought sets before knocking off the Rodriguez Lady Vipers 25-22, 26-28, 25-21 Thursday night in eighth-grade A-team action.

Brooklyn Morris led the Lady Cougars with 21 points while Kaia Love-Wilcox finished with 10 as Calhoun evened its record at 1-1.

Calhoun 'B' d. Rodriguez

The Calhoun Lady Cougars swept past Rodriguez 25-7, 25-19 behind the strong play of Vin Rodriguez, Kaia Smith and Tamara Rogers.

Navo 'A' d. Strickland

Kaeden Robinson had 13 service points and five kills and Taya Svec added seven points and 15 assists to lead the Navo Lady Panthers to a 25-21, 25-6 sweep of the Strickland Lady Vikings.

Tori Ross had six kills for the Lady Panthers as they improved to 2-0.

Navo 'B' d. Strickland

Kennedi Jackson registered 11 service points to lead the Navo Lady Panthers (1-1) to a 25-11, 25-15 win over Strickland.

McMath 'A' d. Harpool

Kanisia Haley had three aces and three digs and Landry Wilkins provided four kills and solid defense to lead McMath (2-0) to a 30-28, 25-19 sweep of the Harpool Lady Longhorns.

Harpool 'B' d. McMath

Avery Ruiz had seven aces and seven kills and Megan Fleitman had four assists for the McMath Lady Tigers in their 6-25, 25-18, 19-17 loss to Harpool.

McMath 'C' d. Harpool

Scarlett Johnson had six aces, two assists and one kill to lead the McMath Lady Tigers to a 25-16, 25-19 win over Harpool.

Crownover 'A' d. Little Elm

Caroline Christiansen led a strong first-set charge for the Crownover Lady Cowboys in their 25-18, 25-17 win over Little Elm.

Kenndi Wallace, Maggie Walsh and Madeleine Landstad also played well as Crownover evened its record at 1-1.

Crownover 'B' d. Little Elm

Kyndall Knotts' strong service games in the first and third sets helped propel the Crownover Lady Cowboys to a 25-18, 23-25, 25-15 win over Little Elm.

Kate Wentworth had seven straight service points in the third set as Crownover improved to 1-1.

Crownover 'C' d. Little Elm

Leiah Hubbard and Kayla Rover were standouts for Crownover in its 25-15, 13-25, 15-7 victory over Little Elm.

Myers 'A' d. Lake Dallas

The Myers Lady Titans ran their record to 2-0 with a 25-19, 12-25, 25-19 triumph over Lake Dallas.

Aniyah Johnson led the way for the Lady Titans with five kills, two aces and one dig, Aspen Benedict had six assists, four digs and two kills and Shian Blacksher-Hollis finished with five assists, five digs and one kill.

Lake Dallas 'B' d. Myers

Jas'meone Darrough had seven service points and Allyssa McKinney had four digs and four points in Myers' 24-26, 25-13, 15-12 loss to Lake Dallas.

Lake Dallas 'C' d. Myers

Despite the great defensive play of Joanisha Keelen, Myers dropped a 25-12, 25-15 decision to Lake Dallas.

Seventh grade
McMath 'A' d. Harpool

Katelyn Thomas had 11 aces and four kills to lead the McMath Lady Tigers to a 25-19, 25-8 win over the Harpool Lady Longhorns.

Maycee Watson added four aces, Brooke Stewart had two kills and Cadence Serna and Hannah Lee had two assists apiece for McMath.

Harpool 'B' d. McMath

The Harpool Lady Longhorns rolled to a 25-19, 25-18 sweep of McMath.

Leading the way for McMath were McKenna Cathcart with three aces and Maggie Wainscott and Mary Ramos with one apiece. Elaina Pharr, Kinley Leatherwood and Erika Safranek all had assists.

Harpool 'C' d. McMath

The Harpool Lady Longhorns eased to a two-set sweep of McMath, 25-9, 25-9.

Rylee Risdon, Lauren Kirk, and Katie Kirk led the offensive attack for McMath.

Crownover 'A' d. Little Elm

Emily Johnson and Claire Schroeder led the way for Crownover  in the opening set and Kyndal Stowers had 11 consecutive service points in the third as the Crownover Lady Cowboys (2-0) defeated Little Elm 25-12, 13-25, 25-15.

Little Elm 'B' d. Crownover

Melrose Bangura was Crownover's service leader in its 25-21, 25-10 loss to Little Elm.

Crownover 'C' d. Little Elm

Lauren Sutton's and Nadia Roybal's strong service games paved the way for Crownover's 25-22, 14-25, 15-12 win over Little Elm.

Lake Dallas 'A' d. Myers

Kadyn Bull had six aces and Danelle Sumberaz and Presley Patrick had two apiece in the Myers Lady Titans' 25-22, 21-25, 25-12 loss to Lake Dallas.

Myers 'B' d. Lake Dallas

Ta'Nivea Craddock had nine service straight points to highlight the Myers Lady Titans' 25-21, 24-26, 15-13 victory over Lake Dallas.

Lake Dallas 'C' d. Myers

Lake Dallas rallied after a first-set loss to pull out a 17-25, 25-22, 15-11 win over the Myers Lady Titans.

Brianna Crow led Myers with six service points.

Calhoun 'A' d. Rodriguez

Ali McKenna had 15 points serving and Molly Mayfield added seven points as the Calhoun Lady Cougars (1-1) defeated the Rodriguez Lady Vipers 25-19, 25-16.

Calhoun 'B' d. Rodriguez

Calhoun rode the strong service games of Kaitlyn Marroquin and Gia McKenna as the Lady Cougars defeated Rodriguez 25-13, 25-20.

Rodriguez 'C' d. Calhoun

The Calhoun Lady Cougars got strong play from Marissa Brock and Carter Sanchez in their 26-24, 25-17 loss to Rodriguez.
