Middle school football roundup: Jordan's four TDs lead Strickland over Navo

Strickland's Austin Jordan scored four times and had over 200 all-purpose yards in leading the Vikings to a 34-14 victory over the Navo Panthers on Tuesday in eighth-grade A-team action.

Kevin Sims had a 60-yard TD run, Chris Feaster added 50 yards rushing and Clay Roblyer was good on two extra points as the Vikings evened their record at 1-1.

Leading the defense for Strickland were Hector Prado and Marcette Lawson with one sack apiece and Chris Lawson, Gage Weis, Jaxon Last and Jakob Camizzi as fellow standouts. 

Navo's touchdowns came on a 70-yard pass-and-run from Jason Jones to Kaden Trevino and Dyland Krause's 68-yard kickoff return. Gabriel Rodas led the Panthers' defense with 10 tackles and two sacks.

Navo 'B' 26, Strickland 0

Marquis Bryant had two long touchdown runs and Omani Ozenne passed for two scores as the Navo Panthers (2-0) blanked Strickland.

Bryant had touchdown runs of 64 and 25 yards, while Ozenne connected with Casey Sessions on a 30-yard touchdown pass and hit Matthew Polk with a 80-yard scoring strike.

Rodriguez 'A' 32, Calhoun 12

Austin Hawkins scored three touchdowns and Alan Tony-Itoyah scored twice to lead the Rodriguez Vipers to a lopsided first win against the Calhoun Cougars.

Harpool 'A' 33, McMath 6

Jordan Lyons ran for two touchdowns and caught two TD passes to lead the Harpool Longhorns to victory over the McMath Tigers.

Lyons had scoring runs of 6 and 7 yards and had TD catches of 37 and 3 yards. He finished with 68 yards rushing and 107 yards receiving. Eta Tako scored Harpool's other touchdown on a 7-yard run.

Brooks Etheridge led the Longhorns' defense with an interception that he returned deep into McMath territory to set up a Harpool score, and he recovered a fumble that was caused by Tate Thompson. Austin Knapp also had a interception for the Longhorns (2-0).

Harpool 'B' 6, McMath 0

Edil Ortiz returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown to give the Harpool Longhorns (2-0) a victory over the McMath Tigers.

Seventh grade
Crownover 'A' 16, Little Elm 0

The Crownover Cowboys, led by the strong defensive play of Si Stovall, Brenden Bradshaw, Connor Newton, Caleb Cown and Peyton Bowen, improved to 2-0 with a shutout of Little Elm.

Bowen, who had an interception, scored on a 6-yard run and Blake Courtney connected with Sutton Lee on a 5-yard pass for another score. Ivan Pena was good with two extra points.

Crownover 'B' 13, Little Elm 0

Jack Bradley scored two touchdowns and rushed for over 80 yards as the Crownover Cowboys defeated Little Elm.

Brock Bristol had key blocks on both touchdown runs, while Logan Dezzuti led the Cowboys (2-0) on defense alongside Wyatt Storey, Alex Cedillo, Sawyer Meador, Jay Cordeiro, John Money and Hudson Hoskin.

Strickland 'A' 19, Navo 0

Isiah Kincaid had 100 yards rushing and scored twice to lead the Strickland Vikings past the Navo Panthers.

Kincaid had touchdown runs of 60 and 40 yards, and Curtis Hughes returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown as Strickland improved to 1-1.

Marc Ibarra Quezado had eight tackles and Scott Comacho had five tackles and two sacks to lead Navo (0-2) on defense.

Navo 'B' 7, Strickland 6

The Navo Panthers' Mathew Johnson caught a 15-yard touchdown pass and Mathew Rodas ran in the extra point in a victory over the Strickland Vikings.

Rodas finished with 65 yards rushing on nine carries and Antrevius Armer  had seven tackles and one sack as Navo improved to 2-0.

Harpool 'A' 51, McMath 0

Jackson Arnold scored two rushing touchdowns and passed for two to lead the Harpool Longhorns (2-0) to their shutout win over McMath.

Arnold scored on runs of 6 and 44 yards and hit Michael Kanu with a 44-yard scoring strike and Brayden Jewell  with a 1-yard scoring toss. Dakari Cates scored twice, once on a 63-yard run and once on a 98-yard interception return.  Blade Carver had a 15-yard scoring run and Cameron Posada hit four extra points.

Isaiah Linson had 45 yards rushing for McMath (0-2) and Isaiah Santos had two sacks and two quarterback hurries.

Harpool 'B' 20, McMath 0

Christian Klein, Jonah McKinnely and Andrew Doba each had touchdown runs in Harpool's victory over McMath.

Playing well for McMath (0-2) were Julian Durazo with 10 carries for 37 yards, Sebastian Belanga with five tackles and Karntyn Vallier with a fumble recovery.

Rodriguez 'A' 32, Calhoun 0

Keegan Byrd scored three touchdowns and Randy Bennett and Adrian Jackson each scored one as the Rodriguez Vipers defeated Calhoun to improve to 1-1.

Rodriguez 'B' 34, Calhoun 7

Rodriguez's Jayden McKay scored three touchdowns to lead the Vipers to a huge victory over the Calhoun Cougars.

Trenton Pesina and Tharron Edwards added touchdowns and Robert Terrell added two extra point kicks as the Vipers improved to 2-0.

Jerrod Mitchell had a 65-yard TD run for Calhoun (0-2).
