Middle school volleyball roundup: Navo stays unbeaten with sweep of Calhoun

The Navo Lady Panthers remained undefeated on the season at 3-0 with a 25-10, 25-16 sweep of the Calhoun Lady Cougars on Thursday night in eighth-grade A-team action.

Kaeden Robinson and Taya Svec led the Lady Panthers with 10 service points apiece while Tori Ross had four kills. Robinson and Imani Taylor had two kills apiece while Svec had a team-high nine assists. 

McMath 'A' d. Strickland

Behind a strong service game from Avery Ruiz with 12 aces, McMath defeated Strickland 25-7, 25-11.

Rosie Du had five aces, five assists and three kills for the Lady Tigers (3-0).

McMath 'B' d. Strickland

McMath (2-1) got 11 aces, one kill and three assists from Diana Barba and three blocks and two kills from Kalyn Cardona in its 25-12, 25-17 win over Strickland.

McMath 'C' d. Strickland

Marlena Merrnik had nine aces and Megan Gray added four as the McMath Lady Tigers (2-1) defeated Strickland 25-13, 25-14.

Seventh grade

McMath 'A' d. Strickland

Katelyn Thomas had 11 aces, seven kills and two digs to lead the McMath Lady Tigers to a 25-20, 25-16 victory over Strickland.

Joining Thomas were Brooke Stewart with six assists and one ace, Eleanor Tucker with one ace and Hannah Lee with one assist. McMath improved to 2-1.

Strickland 'B' d. McMath

The Strickland Lady Vikings pulled out a victory with a 26-24, 25-21 sweep of the McMath Lady Tigers.

Landry Hill led McMath with six aces and one kill while McKenna Cathcart had one assist and one ace, Jessica Ferralez had one ace and Hallie Martin had one kill.

Strickland did not submit a game report.

Strickland 'C' d. McMath

C'Mya Garrett was the service leader for McMath along with Lauren Kirk and Rhegen Montgomery in its 25-10, 25-18 loss to Strickland.

Harpool 'A' d. Myers

Hayden Brock had four aces and Anna Woodlin added three aces and one tip as the Harpool Lady Longhorns rallied late to defeat the Myers Lady Titans 25-15, 19-25, 25-20.

Kylie Freeman had two kills and Madi Lawrence finished with three digs as Harpool improved to 2-1.

Harpool 'B' d. Myers

The Harpool Lady Longhorns rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Myers 22-25, 25-14, 15-8.

Samantha Raney led the Lady Longhorns (2-1) with five aces while Rachel Anderson and three hits and Macy Elston had one hit.

Myers 'C' d. Harpool

The Myers Lady Titans handed Harpool its first loss with a 25-20, 25-13 decision.

Hannah Sydow led Harpool (2-1) with four aces, Hailey Jones had three aces and Brandy DeLeon had one hit.

Myers did not submit a game report.

Navo 'A' d. Calhoun

The Calhoun Lady Cougars put up a strong battle before suffering a 28-26, 26-24 loss to Navo.

Ali McKenna and E'Leigh Harrington were the top servers for Calhoun (1-2), while Mollie Mayfield led the team in setting.

Navo did not submit a game report.

Calhoun 'B' d. Navo

Calhoun improved to 2-1 with a 25-19, 25-20 victory over the Navo Lady Panthers.

Gia McKenna, Kaitlyn Marroquin and Sonia Miranda were singled out for their play for Calhoun.

Navo 'C' d. Calhoun

The Calhoun Lady Cougars saw their record slip to 0-3 with a 25-17, 25-23 loss to Navo.

Marissa Brock was Calhoun's top server.
