Middle school football roundup: Myers Titans remain unbeaten with win over McMath

Garyreon Robinson scored on a long touchdown run as the Myers eighth-grade "A" team remained unbeaten with a 8-0 victory over the McMath Tigers on Tuesday night in a game called at halftime due to inclement weather.

Robinson scored on an 81-yard run and Jackson Baker added the extra point as the Titans improved to 5-0.

In the B-team game, Myers defeated McMath 19-12.

Harpool 'A' 38, Rodriguez 0

Quarterback CJ Rice connected with receiver Jordan Lyons for two touchdowns and Eta Tako ran for two scores as the Harpool Longhorns overwhelmed the Rodriguez Vipers.

Lyons caught 4- and 28-yard touchdown passes from Rice, while Tako ran for 124 yards and had TD runs of 58 and 40 yards. Miller Johnston hit Tate Thompson with a 66-yard scoring pass and Jose Ochoa hit four extra points to complete the scoring.

Hunter Herriage and Dylan Barham led Harpool (4-1) on defense.

Navo 'B' 12, Crownover 0

The Navo Panthers got touchdown runs from Marquis Bryant and Kerry Lacy  in their shutout win over the Crownover Cowboys.

Bryant scored on a 34-yard run and Lacy scored on a 1-yard run as the Panthers improved to 5-0.

Cameron Smith  led the Panther defense with five tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Seventh grade
Crownover 'A' 22, Navo 0

Ryan Yaites had a pair of touchdown runs and one interception to lead the Crownover Cowboys to their shutout win over the Navo Panthers.

Yaites scored on runs of 1 and 25 yards, Ivan Pena added two extra points and Bryson Riggs added an 8-yard TD run to complete the scoring for Crownover. Brenden Bradshaw, Andrew Coplin and Isiah Pride led the defensive effort as the Cowboys improved to 5-0.

Marc Ibarra led the Panthers (1-4) on defense with seven tackles and two sacks.

Crownover 'B' 35, Navo 0

Jack Bradley, Broc Bristol, Wyatt Storey, Ceaser Nava and Timothy Cardona scored touchdowns to lead Crownover (5-0) to its victory over the Navo Panthers (3-2).

Mason Bunn, Carson Schmitz, Grayson Ingram, Orlando Delgado, Caleb Brewer, Sawyer Meador, Jarame Cordeiro and Hank Nokes were standouts for the Cowboy defense.

Jerimiah Campbell led the Navo offense with 84 yards rushing on six carries.

Harpool 'A' 36, Rodriguez 6

Jackson Arnold ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as the Harpool Longhorns ran their record to 4-0 with a victory over the Rodriguez Vipers.

Arnold had TD runs of 26 and 67 yards and hit Michael Kanu with a 16-yard scoring strike. Brayden Jewell ran 1 yard for a score, and Josh Lumsden returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown.

Harpool 'B' 22, Rodriguez 8

Evan Langley caught a touchdown pass from Christian Klein, who ran for two touchdowns, as Harpool (3-1) defeated Rodriguez.

Myers 'A' 40, McMath 6

Kalib Hicks, Jordan Bailey, Jaavonne Jones, Brody Quillin and Joesif Williams accounted for the touchdowns as the Myers Titans (3-2) defeated McMath.

Hicks scored on runs of 45 and 7 yards, Bailey caught a 5-yard TD pass from Jones and a 55-yard throw from Quillin, and Williams and Quillin connected on a 35-yard scoring play.  Oscar Garcia added four extra points.

McMath's score came on Landon Brown's 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Other standouts for the Tigers (0-5) were Carter Smith (interception), Bryce Ashbaugh (18 yards receiving), Julian Durazo (25 yards passing) and Marquis Nuby and Sebastian Berlanga (tackles for losses).

Little Elm 'A' 19, Calhoun 0

Jarrod Mitchell rushed for 75 yards on 10 carries and Justin Jenkins had 10 tackles for the Calhoun Cougars in their loss to Little Elm.

Little Elm 'B' 8, Calhoun 6

Ian McKenna scored on a 20-yard touchdown run as Calhoun suffered a hard-fought loss to Little Elm.

Lake Dallas 'A' 28, McMath 0

Landon Brown had 50 yards rushing and Tristan Strange, Carter Smith, Bryce Ashbaugh and Logan Stubblefield were standouts on defense as McMath fell to Lake Dallas.
