Middle school football: Crownover defeats Myers in matchup of unbeaten teams

BJ Phillips, Chandler Pullam and Jace Wilson combined efforts for four touchdowns to lead the Crownover Cowboys eighth grade A-team to a 25-14 victory against the Myers Titans on Wednesday night in a showdown of unbeaten teams.

Phillips, who finished the night with 100 yards rushing, scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards while Pullam completed touchdown passes of 21 and 51 yards to Wilson as the Cowboys improved to 7-0 for the season. Myers is now stands at 6-1.

Defensively, Jaden Powell, Braedon Vallejo, Red Foster and Wilson came up with turnovers for the Cowboys while Wasay Butt, Rowan Briggs, Zach Brooks, Jacob Ambriz, Rylan Whitworth, Grayson O'Bara and Jesse McLaughlin were standouts in the line.

Myers did not submit game report.

Harpool 'A' 40, Calhoun 0

CJ Rice threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Harpool Longhorns to a shutout.

Rice, who was 4-of-7 passing for 102 yards, hit Brody Nobles with a 28-yard scoring strike and later connected with Jordan Lyons on a 2-yard touchdown pass. Rice also scored on a 18-yard run. Eta Tako had a 8-yard scoring run, and Brooks Etheridge scored on a 23-yard run. Jose Ochoa was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra point kicks as Harpool improved to 6-1.

Etheridge led all rushers with 49 yards while Lleyton Roth added 37 on the ground. Brendan Lewis had a interception, and Tate Thompson and Hunter Herriage each had fumble recoveries to lead the defense.

Lake Dallas 'A' 11, Navo 8

Jayson Jones returned a fumble 60-yards for a touchdown and Gabriel Rodas added the extra point kick in Navo's (2-5) loss.

Navo 'B' 28, Lake Dallas 0

Marquis Bryant scored two touchdowns, and Omani Ozene passed for one and ran for another touchdown in Navo's shutout win.

Bryant had a 60-yard kickoff return for a score and had a 85-yard touchdown run later in the game. Ozene hit Casey Sessions with a 45-yard touchdown pass and later scored on a 12-yard run. Cameron Smith added one extra point kick, and Jason Dyer recorded a safety to complete Navo's (6-0) scoring.

Little Elm 'A' 28, McMath 8

Nate Newton's 15-yard touchdown run was McMath's lone score in its loss.

Jason Carter led the Tigers (1-6) with 77 receiving yards, Javaan Evans had 44 yards rushing, Newton finished with 33 yards, Ryan Cooper led McMath passers with 55 yards, Kolten Shuckers had 35 yards passing and also had a interception and Raudel Morales had a fumble recovery.

Little Elm 'B' 12, McMath 7

Baylor Battles hit Josh Billups with a 72-yard scoring pass in McMath's loss.

Reese Montcalm had 25 receiving yards for the Tigers (3-4), and Mason Oliver had one sack and one fumble recovery.

Myers 'A' 22, Crownover 16

The Myers Titans rallied from an 8-0 deficit and scored 22 unanswered points to hand Crownover its first loss of the season.

The Cowboys (6-1) got their first touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Blake Courtney to Sutton Lee and later stretched their lead to 8-0 when Jaden Fritsch forced a safety.

Crownover's final touchdown came on a 3-yard pass from Courtney to Peyton Bowen, and Ivan Pena added the extra point kick.

Myers did not submit a game report.

Crownover 'B' 20, Myers 7

Cage Powell and AJ Knowles split time at quarterback, and each threw touchdown passes as the Cowboys (7-0) rolled.

Powell and Hank Nokes connected on a 15-yard scoring pass, and Knowles later hit Miles Kennedy with a 4-yard touchdown pass. Crownover's final score came on a 40-yard run by Broc Bristol.

Jack Bradley was the leading rusher for the Cowboys with 80 yards while Timothy Cardona, Sawyer Meador, Bristol and Josh Walsworth were standouts on defense.

Little Elm 'A' 33, McMath 0

Landon Brown, Bryce Ashbaugh and Isaiah Linson were standouts for the McMath Tigers (0-6) in their loss.
