Middle school basketball roundup: Strong second half gets Crownover girls by Navo

The Crownover Lady Cowboys eighth-grade "A" team held a slim 12-8 halftime lead before they turned up the defensive pressure and offensive output to pull away for a 38-19 win over the Navo Lady Panthers on Thursday night.

Crownover (2-3) was led in scoring by Jessica Hall with 13 points. 

In the B-team game, Crownover got off to a slow start but went on a 17-0 run in the second quarter and pulled away for a 29-14 win over Navo. Alexandra Gilmore led all scorers with 12 points for the Lady Cowboys (3-1).

Navo did not submit a game report.

The Navo Panthers used a fast start to build a 31-16 first-half advantage over the Crownover Cowboys and withstood a second-half rally to take a 46-40 victory.

Jace Wilson led the scoring for the Cowboys (3-2) with 22 points.

Dirk Falkenhagen scored 12 points to lead Crownover (4-1) to a 44-20 victory over Navo in the B-team game. Carson Hagan added seven points and Kyve Bolden, John Demcher and Zane Royston had five apiece.

Crownover held Navo scoreless in the second and fourth quarters to take a 34-11 C-team victory. Macellus Colley led the Cowboys (5-0) with 13 points and Bryler Nitcholas added eight.

Navo did not submit a game report.

Myers boys at McMath

Myers used a strong defensive effort to limit McMath to no more than six points in any quarter as the Titans rolled to a 42-18 victory.

Jason Carter led McMath (1-4) with seven points and Ben Gutierrez had four.

The Tigers had to hold off a late rally by Myers to take a 31-30 win in the B-team game. David Johnson led the scoring for McMath (3-2) with 10, Dominic Wilson had eight and Ryan Wilkins seven.

Myers jumped out to an 18-8 first-half lead and defeated McMath 31-13 in the C-team game. Tate Gwilliam led McMath  (1-4) with seven points.

McMath girls at Myers

The McMath Lady Tigers outscored Myers 10-4 in the second half to roll to a 21-13 victory over the Lady Titans.

McMath (3-2) was led by Abby Folsom with eight points, and Megan Fleitman and Kanisia Haley had four apiece.

Margaret Nicholson scored 10, Allie Stidham had nine and Ashanti McDade added six as the Lady Tigers defeated Myers 32-9 in the B-team game.

McMath pulled out to a 12-0 first-half lead and went on to defeat Myers 20-4 in the C-team game. Kylie Williams had eight points and Madi Connelly and Nika Maderi had four apiece for the Lady Tigers (2-3).

Seventh grade

Harpool girls at Rodriguez

The Harpool Lady Longhorns outscored Rodriguez 29-2 in the first half en route to a 50-11 victory to improve to 8-0.

Madison Lumsden led the way for the Lady Horns with 13 points, Raina Akbar had nine, Sophia Placke and Avery Jefferson had eight apiece and Matalie Mayes finished with seven.

The Lady Longhorns also dominated the B-team game, holding the Lady Vipers scoreless in the second and third quarters to take a 51-6 victory. Cami Coward led Harpool (5-0) with 11 points, Abby LoBello had 10 and Lillian Marker and Abigail Holder each had eight.

Brandy DeLeon, Hayden Brock and Jade Bello each scored four points as Harpool (4-1) won the C-team game 15-4.

Rodriguez did not submit a game report.

The Rodriguez Vipers jumped out to an early lead and gradually pulled away for a 46-32 win over the Harpool Longhorns.

Ethan Etter led Harpool (1-4) with 11 points, and Brayden Jewell and Jackson Arnold had eight apiece.

Jordan Dillard scored 15, Evan Langley added 11 and Calen Austin finished with six as Harpool  (5-0) defeated Rodriguez in the B-team game 47-23.

The Longhorns remained unbeaten in C-team play with a 26-14 win over Rodriguez. Luke Vasquez had seven points and Jack Krebs and Cam Posada each had four to lead Harpool (5-0).

Rodriguez did not submit a game report.

Crownover boys at Navo

The Crownover Cowboys outscored Navo 25-15 in the second half to pull away for a 40-26 victory.

Lane Allen led the unbeaten Cowboys (5-0) with 13 points and Connor Newton added eight.

In the B-team game, the Cowboys started quickly and never let up on the offensive pressure to take a 50-9 win over Navo. Isiah Pride led Crownover (5-0) with 13 points, Ryan Yaites finished with nine and Alex Cedillo had eight.

Gage Powell and Matthew Whitcomb had five points apiece to lead Crownover (4-1) to a 25-9 win over Navo in the C-team game.

Navo did not submit a game report.

Mariah Watson scored 13 points and Hailey Evans finished with nine as the Crownover Lady Cowboys (4-1) rolled to a 42-4 victory over Navo.

Crownover jumped out to a 16-point first-half lead over the Navo Lady Panthers in the B-team game and went on to a 35-20 victory. Cayelee Clark led Crownover (5-0) with 10 points and Hailey Hurd had six.

The Lady Cowboys remained unbeaten in C-team action with their 4-2 win over Navo.

Navo  did not submit a game report.

Myers boys at McMath

Noah Rodriguez pumped in 20 points to lead the McMath Tigers to a 54-36 victory over the Myers Titans.

Tristan Strange and Bryce Ashbaugh each scored nine points for McMath (3-2).

The Titans rallied from an early deficit in the B-team game to take a 35-23 win over McMath. Ryan McClurg led the Tigers (1-4) with eight points while Nick Laia and DJ Woodson each had four.

Myers completed the sweep in the C-team game with a  30-14 win. Jonathan Weaver scored six points  for McMath.

The Myers Lady Titans used a big third-quarter output to break open a tight game and roll to a 37-18 win over the McMath Lady Tigers.

Maggie Wainscott led the Lady Tigers (1-4) with nine points and Kendyle had seven.

Myers used a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter of the B-team game to take a 22-5 victory over McMath (0-5).

The Lady Titans won the C-team game 10-7.
