Denton County game warden Kyle Allison said authorities have recovered the body of a 25-year-old man who reportedly lost control of a personal watercraft and fell into the water Sunday afternoon while not wearing a life jacket.
Authorities were keeping family members updated Monday evening while rescue crews searched for the body of a man who went missing in Lewisville Lake on Sunday. The 25-year-old reportedly lost control of a personal watercraft and fell into the water while not wearing a life jacket.
The Lewisville Fire Department and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hidden Cove area of the lake near Little Elm and began searching for his body. Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens are also searching.
Allison said authorities had three boats in the water making sonar runs. He said they would continue into the late evening hours, depending on how hard the wind blows.
Authorities have not released the man’s name, or where he is from. The only details out right now are that the man was jumping a wave on a personal watercraft when he lost control and fell into the water. Allison said the man was reportedly not wearing a life jacket.
Teams searched for him close to six hours Sunday night. They resumed Monday morning and continued throughout the day.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have any new developments,” Allison said around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
