NFL teams held their minicamps over the last few days, when a host of players who were drafted/signed as free agents worked out with their new teams for the first time.
North Texas didn't have a player drafted but had several sign free agent contracts. Some of those players made headlines over the course of minicamp.
None of UNT's former players received more attention and better reviews than wide receiver Jalen Guyton. The former Allen standout signed with the Cowboys and had made an impression early on.
Mickey Spagnola of DallasCowboys.com gave Guyton rave reviews in a feature he wrote last week. Former NFL scout turned media personality/analyst Bryan Broaddus also spoke highly of Guyton in his column on which rookies stood out at minicamp.
Former UNT linebacker E.J. Ejiya also received some positive reviews after minicamp with the Baltimore Ravens.
Ejiya is trying to follow in the footsteps of former UNT standout Zach Orr, who made the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. Orr went on to become one of the top linebackers in the NFL before a neck issue cut his career short.
Kicker Cole Hedlund was signed by the Indianapolis Colts after a solid performance in minicamp, a story we covered a couple of days ago.
Cornerback Kemon Hall is with the Los Angeles Chargers and will have a tough climb when it comes to making the roster, according to Michael Peterson who covers the team for its SB Nation site.
Offensive lineman Riley Mayfield was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following a minicamp tryout.
Nate Brooks is with the Arizona Cardinals. Not much has been written about him at this point.
The Jacksonville Jaguars put defensive lineman Roderick Young on the waived/injured list. Young will end up on the Jaguars injured list if no one claims him.
